Dweller Taxonomy

An abridged bestiary explaining the various races populating HEADSrest:

Aberrations: Biologically based lifeforms far removed by corruption, even deliberate  torture, from a natural state. Such types are not born but reborn by disfigurement. Having once been wild-born beasts of average character, they were captured and subjected to mutilatory physical modifications until they became caricatures of animals; monstrous self-parodies we term aberrations.

Automatons: Some automa are merely algorithmic programs that  happenstantially appear sentient while others serve as vessels for disincarnate spirits. Most loop forever in a linear sub-set of obsolete scripted tasks,  never veering from their dated programing, whereas some adaptively learn for the entirety of their operating time-- housing millenniums of experientially collected data. Those possessed  by spirits are akin to haunted objects; opportunistically acquired vessels  for the undead to virtually interact with the world through nonliving vehicles.

Noumenon are plentifully found insectoid lifeforms that feed  on the necromatter of the universe. They are terraformers for filth that degrade spaces to support their habitation. By polluting areas they occupy they accelerate the death of worlds by promoting entropy.

Abstracts: Archecentric information based lifeforms that are pseudo digital in nature One could also describe abstracts as autonomous mental constructs. These exist only in the auxiliary dimension that borders physical reality.  Being informatic in character, they are memetical rather than genetical beings. Optically, abstracts are perceivable only as fluctuating hallucinations as their true forms are super-dimensional, and cannot be organized   into stable shapes by the human sight. Abstracts evolve and spread only with the help of thought-energy emitted by organic intelligences.

Anthros tentatively make up the last classification.  Tentatively because they are so seldomly  found without an alien admixture of the other-types. Relative to other categories anthros contain a manlike semblance, and display  flexible thinking. Being capable of self-effacement makes them one of the few types capable of spiritual growth.
